Pastel & Neutrals

Hey dolls!
I know my MIA status is to the max.  I apologize and do hope to be fluent after this weekend.

I have some amazing news to share! But before I get there, I'd like to share a word or two, maybe three or four.  My year started with a hype.  I was offered an amazing opportunity in the fashion industry just before Christmas 2013.  At first I was not about it.  But I attended a bloggers event during the same time and was inspired by how other bloggers started their career in fashion and where they are now.  I took a leap, signed up for the opportunity offered.  I made it to round three of the offer which was an on camera interview.  I was told I'll be contacted by mid to late February.  February has come and gone; not one word whether I made the cut or not.  Although I knew what I was signing up for, I really and truly had high hopes of being a part of the apprenticeship which was going to be a reality series shown on television.   I was feeling very broken (in my career choice)  just before we entered the month of February.  I believe reality hit me after signing up for the reality show.  This is NYC, fashion speaks in this city.  You need to be well known to be known if that makes any sense.  If you want to make it to the top in the fashion industry you must be ready to work tirelessly, suck up to the big names, and fake it 'till you make it.  It's not all glitz and glam, although us fashionista' make it seem that way sometimes.

With that said, another opportunity opened up in mid February.  Yes it is true, when one door closes, God is right there to open another.  I was going to be the girl who loaned "the girl" a magical gown to grace the red carpet.  However, there was a delay on my end.  Now I was in that doubting God state of mind.  "Is this industry for me?"  "Am I wasting my time?"
But, I know deep down way inside of my inner most being this business is for me.

Rewind back to late January.  I was again invited to a private event dedicated to fashion bloggers only.  I posted about the event here.   A regional magazine, Bella NYC was starting a new section in the March/April Issue called "The Slammin' Six".  At this event, they were going to choose 6 bloggers to be featured in their magazine who would be styled by Celebrity Stylist, Derek Warburton II.  Each blogger would have his/her own page.  Well I wasn't missing out on that opportunity.  I dressed up, wore two stockings in this ice box weather, put on some nice flats, threw my Loub's in my bag and headed on the train to the city.  And of course I was NOT one of the six.  I mean how much more worst could this year be?

I am human and flesh takes over, so I did feel pity. I was down and out, over eating, and frustrated!  But, my spirit was not giving up.  This year was announced to be the year of "Unstoppable Breakthrough (Bishop Robin Dinnanauth, 2014)“.  And I believe that with all my heart.  Sometimes we see success as a straight road.  Having a plan, knowing exactly what you want, why you want it and how you'll get it might seem dandy and easy.  But, there's bumps, u-turns, detours, yields, stops and even accidents before you actually make it to where God wants you to be.  We think we know what we want accomplished in life by writing it down and setting out with a plan, (don't get me wrong, I am all for having a plan in life as I mentioned in my previous post) but,  the fact of the matter is God has full control.  Your success is already determined by him.  Your written plan or goal is that u-turn or that stop and the yield.  God has given you those roads to help you get to where he wants you to be.  He has something greater, better and bigger for you.  With that faith, of knowing God has my back it makes me stronger each time I'm declined or turned away.

If you didn't get bored yet with all my babbling, then you're my faithful reader and I thank you. Like I shared on my ssocial media last week, I am in the March/April issue of Bella Magazine.  I do not have my own page (YET!), but I was recognized for being at the event they hosted.  It's just a tiny picture of little 'ole me, but I am very excited to be in print.  Especially in a top regional magazine!  The magazines are now available in Duane Reade and New Stands across NY, NJ & CT.

(I apologize for the unclear pics)

Now if you've reached this far, we should go have tea sometime :)
It's my honor to announce to you, I will have my own page as one of the "Slammin' Six" blogger role model of the May/June issue of Bella Magazine.  YES, YES, YES! Not just a tiny pic in print but an editorial shoot, fully styled by a celebrity stylist, hair and makeup c/o of the magazine.  With a small interview by the amazing Dana Prigge.

Just when not 1 but 3 doors seemed to shut you out, God opens that fourth door and says,  "you will be known across this region.  Your message will be heard."  I thank God for this amazing opportunity.  And I thank all of you who has supported me in this journey.  You pushed me to keep going.  You inspired me to keep inspiring others.  The best is yet to come.!
