I just wanted to leave some words of success with you today. From my last class "Celebrity Styling", my teacher wanted to know a bit about her students. When I was up, I explained my story of coming from a very strict family who believed in success and everyone must go to college to be successful lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc. I however took a diffetent path. I was married at the age of 16 while still in high school. I went on to say I proved to my family I could've handled marriage and sustain school. As you all know by now fashion has been my dream as a little girl; because of the expectations of my family, I went down another path which was Education (teacher). I did earn my A.S. for Education but got pregnant which was a set back in going further in the field. With that said, my teacher asked, "If you could have changed anything that happened, what would it be?" She did not want an answer, she just wanted me to ponder upon it. Truthfully, I would've changed my mindset of following my family's goal instead of mine. I would have gone to fashion school, earn my degree and be queen of the fashion industry.
The Bishop of my church just touched on something powerful which inspired me to title this post "I Set the Bar: High Standards". He explained, "Things don't happen, until you are mature enough to make them happen." It brought me back to the little speech I gave about myself in the class. If I had went into the fashion industry when I was 18 years old, I definitely would have made it to the top, but I would not have been mature enough to handle situations such as high position opportunities, finance, and all the great things that comes with building an empire. Heck, at 18 you wanna own the world, spend your money and party your life away. God knows how crazy I was.
Being a wife for eight years and counting, a mother for four years and a matured adult, I now know how to handle situations, take leadership roles and make right decisions. Right now my main focus is on building my dreams to help my children's dreams come true. I refuse to live in regrets of why I never accomplished my dreams. I want to be able to tell my children that they can follow their dreams just as mom followed hers! A bright future to all. You set the bar of where you should be and where you are going. Go forth and follow your dreams. Nurture and birth your goals. If God has brought you thus far, just imagine where he can take you. Get up and get going. The ball is in your court, where is your next pitch?
